Why a Workout Buddy Accelerates Weight Loss Results and Get in Shape Faster

NJ personal trainer and fitness expert Carey Yang explains why fitness training with a buddy (spouse, family, friend or coworker) as semi-private or partner training can provide lasting motivation, lose weight and get in shape faster.
Buddy Workout Partner Training
“There is always a better way. I have helped countless people lose weight, build muscle and get in shape over the years. People don’t need to struggle their way through the weight-loss journey,” says Carey Yang, a certified persona trainer and fitness expert in New Jersey.
Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC — a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.
“Some people keep their motivation up and momentum going, see their weight loss results faster than others. The question is why is that. What makes these people more successful than others. Of course, hiring a personal training is one thing. But that’s not all of them,” Yang said.
Yang said, to beat the New Year’s Resolutions Syndrome, you need to watch out who you’re associated with. You are the product of five of your closest friends. Research shows that obesity is epidemic and contagious. Some people call it “sympathetic weight gain” with your friends.
On the other hand, thinness could be contagious too. See who has the upper hand over the other. So stay close to your fit and healthy friends. But don’t break up with your overweight friends as yet. Just be aware and stay conscious in your environments. Stay away from sources that drain your energy and damage your health. Make friends with like-minded people who are positive, fit, healthy, high-energy and high-performance.
“If you want to lose weight and change your habits, buddy up with a like-minded friend who shares a similar goal with you,” Yang said. “Buddy System is one great way to help you (both of you) stay on track. It’s commonly called semi-private training or partner training that two people share the same training session and cost. Buddy training is definitely a cost-effective, fun and mutually accountable way  to get in shape.”
According to a psychology professor John C. Norcross at the University of Scranton, “having someone to exercise or someone who bugs you about going to the gym doesn’t make a difference in January, but it does in February.”
“People can tough it out on their own for a month, but after that it gets hard.” said Professor Norcross. The exercise pal — or cop, in the case of a nagging friend, spouse or office mate — adds incentive. Your workout buddy or accountability partner will cheer you up and keep you going on occasions where you have the moment of “I don’t feel like it.” or “It’s too (you name it excuses).”
Yang encourages people want to train together to interview personal trainer together to find the mutually accepted personal trainer, training style and training schedule. For more information about buddy training, visit http://www.beyondfitnesssolutions.com.

What is the difference between fitness coaching, wellness coaching, health coaching and personal training?

Personal trainer and fitness coach Carey Yang debunks the myths and confusion about fitness coaching, wellness coaching, health coaching and personal training.

Coaching is the latest fitness and weight loss trend. For years people have tried all sorts of exercise programs and diets and failed. Most people realize that they cannot go on the journey of health, fitness and weight loss on their own. They need professional help.
Personal trainers have been in high demand motivating and helping people exercise regularly, lose weight consistently and get in shape in less time. People who have achieved their fitness and weight loss goals also receive professional guidance in their nutrition, diet and lifestyle changes. “It’s the rest of 166 hours of the week that I don’t see you and train you for twice a week that make more difference in your weight loss and fitness,” says Carey Yang, a certified personal trainer and fitness expert based in Morris County, New Jersey.
Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC — a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.
“In-person fitness training is invigorating. Nothing can replace the physical exercise and training that a personal trainer can deliver. After all, everyone knows what to do and why they need to do it. The problem most people simply aren’t motivated to do it,” Yang says.
On the other side of the equation is that some people know and are doing the exercises and eating healthy part. But they lack the support, motivation and guidance to keep them stay on track or keep making progress. This is where the coaching part comes into play.
There are many variations of coaching related to health, fitness and weight loss. They may sound almost the same but with slight different in emphasis and expertise that the professional can deliver.
First, who are the professionals providing fitness coaching, wellness coaching, or health coaching? They can be personal trainers, yoga or pilates instructors, fitness or exercise instructors, nutritionists, dietitians, coaches, educators or counselors specialized in the area of health and fitness, medical doctors – all sorts of education, experience and training background.
“You have to look at their education, experience and training background, and areas of expertise to find the one that most meet your need. Better yet, talk to several of them. Ask specific questions, about your challenges and if they have experience or clients going to similar situations,” Yang says.
Almost all these coaching programs are virtual or online without having to be physically present with you. The service is delivered by phone, fax, email, messaging or skype — virtually anywhere in the world as long as internet or cellular communication is available.
Coaching is best suited for people who already know how to exercise properly and safely, but simply need a dose of motivation, on-going support, periodic change-up in workout routine and training program, or supportive nutrition plan.
“Expect to stick to a program for at least 3 months in order to draw up a plan, implement and monitor the progress, and adjust to meet your goals,” Yang says. “In a short-attention-span of instant messaging society, people want quick fixes instead of long-term sustainable results.”
Take fitness coaching as an example.
Here is a list of services what a virtual fitness coach can do for the clients:
- help set long-term goals and action plan
- create a customized plan for  lifestyle, training, and diet needs
- keep you motivated
- monitor progress and keep the client stay on track
- provide individualized training program and workout routine
- provide nutrition plan to support specific training program and goals
- on-going support and coaching to help clients overcome obstacles
- provide a continuity program for former clients
- real-time live physical training and exercise via skype, facetime or other online digital video tool is possible.
The benefits of virtual fitness coaching include:
- professional guidance from an expert coach, trainer or nutritionist
- on-going support, feedback, motivation and coaching
- accountability and progression
- complimentary to in-person physical training and exercise
- convenience in time and location – virtual anytime, anywhere
- no traveling required – great for busy people who don’t have time to travel
- maybe more affordable than in-person training

Best Exercises to Get Rid of Love Handles and Lose Belly Fat

Pullup and Lower Abs Curl by Carey Yang
For thousands of middle-aged men and women frustrated to get rid of love handles and belly fat now can learn from Morris County NJ personal trainer and fitness expert Carey Yang with the most effective and challenging bodyweight exercise.
Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC — a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.
“The middle section is the common trouble area for both men and women. It takes a variety of exercises from different angles and directions to sculpt abdominals, obliques, particularly lower abdominal muscles,” Yang says. “Don’t forget. Your six pack abs grow from your kitchen. That means you have to be diligent in your nutrition and diet plan to support your fitness and exercise training program.”
Yang says, “sculpting flat or ripped abs is not pipe dream. Men and women at any age can train and get firm abs and toned back.”
Here is an example of 2-in-1 bodyweight exercise that combine wide-grip pullup and leg lift all in one move. “Both exercises are challenging in their own merit. Focus on quality, not quantity. Pay attention to muscle contraction. Do multiple sets of 3 to 5 repetitions if you have to.” Yang says.

March Madness Weight Loss Training for Biggest Losers

Carey Yang, CPT - Denville Morris County NJ Personal Trainer
It’s March Madness time for NCAA Basketball tournaments to crown national champions. Denville, Morris County NJ personal trainer Carey Yang announces a special March Madness special to celebrate the national craze for college basketball games.
Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC — a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.
“Now it’s springtime. Although the weather hasn’t been so kind this winter, it shouldn’t prevent you from working out and eating healthy. If you haven’t done so, it’s about time for spring training and getting ready for summer beach swimsuit season,” Yang says.
Yang offers four strategies to help overweight and obese men and women burn fat 24/7 by optimizing fat burning hormones and elevating metabolism around the clock.
1. Optimized Nutrient Combining: Avoid deadly nutrient combination of carb and fat. Release of insulin and fat promote storage. Do this by simply protein in every meal.
2. Carb Syncing: Prime your body with carb at the right times, in the morning and after intense exercise.
3. Strategic Overfeeding: Restricting calories and dieting put your body to starvation mode and decrease your metabolism to burn less fat. Strategic overfeeding resets your metabolism and keep your fat-burning furnace running again.
4. Metabolic Resistance Training: This type of exercise provides a huge metabolic stimulus to the entire muscular and cardiovascular systems at the same time through strategically designed full body resistance training combined with minimal rest.  This is what allows for an unparalleled exercise-induced increase in metabolism for hours and hours after your session—something we call the “after burn.”
“When you combine the metabolism power of Metabolic Resistance Training with the hormone-regulating power of Optimized Nutrient Timing, Carb Syncing, and Strategic Overfeeding, the only thing your body can do is respond by burning fat 24/7,” Yang says.

Spring Forward to Pump up Dormant Winter Muscles

It’s Spring Forward time today to adjust clock one-hour forward! If the history is the guide, at least one-third people who made their New Year’s weight-loss resolutions would have quit by now according to a study by the University of Scranton.
“Winter weather has been cold and brutal. It becomes a deterrence to many people who vow to eat healthy, exercise more and regularly after the New Year. Inconvenience is another excuse for people to put off their New Year weight loss resolution.” Yang said. “Winter blues doesn’t help either. People tend to move less and eat more.”
Now spring is just around the corner. Weather is getting nicer. Temperature is rising. “It’s definitely a good time to spring-forward or jump-start your weight loss and workout,” Yang said.

Super Bowl Pre-Game Fat-Burning Workout Routine

Super Bowl 2013 is in full swing. Debate is hot on which team will win. Betting keeps going up. “Super Bowl is the largest sports event even if you don’t watch (American) football games in regular season,” says Carey Yang, a certified personal trainer and fitness expert.
Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC — a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.
This year Super Bowl XLVII is the National Football League (NFL) championship game between the American Football Conference (AFC) champion Baltimore Raves and the National Football Conference (NFC) champion San Francisco 49ers to decide the National Football League (NFL) champion for the 2012 season. It is scheduled to be played Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. Kickoff time is scheduled for approximately 6:30 p.m. EST.
Super Bowl is more than just a champion game between two of the best teams of the year. It’s about entertainment, partying, foods, drinks, commercials, advertisements, half time show and gossips. It means business.
Traditional Super Bowl party involves heavy fatty and greasy foods that can derail New Year’s resolutions to lose weight just one month later.
“It doesn’t have to be this way. I have created fat burning and conditioning workout routines you can do at various points during the Super Bowl game and party,” Yang says.

Why Weight Loss Resolutions Can Be More Deadly Than Flu Epidemic

New Year's Resolutions Goal List
For millions of Americans who are suffering from “New Year’s Resolution Syndrome” now may find out weight loss resolution can be more deadly than the flu epidemic spreading across the nation, according to  Denville, Morris County, NJ personal trainer and fitness expert Carey Yang.
Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC — a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.
“New Year’s Resolutions syndrome is a epidemic disease in different context in that people are making the same-old-but-never-worked New Year’s resolutions over and over.  It’s insane to expect different and better results by doing the same old,” Yang says.
“It’s the second week after the New Year. If the past history is the guide, one-third of people who vow to exercise and eat well already quit. New Year’s resolutions for weight loss are illusions or illusive goal-setting tool that have failed people many times over,” Yang says.
Yang adds, the problem is that people make resolutions with right intentions but wrong attitudes. It comes from the place of fear and not having or lack of true passion and commitment.
The single biggest key to improving both your performance and your results seems to go ignored by almost everybody. If you want to be at the top of your game you absolutely must review, analyze, and learn from what has already happened.
Here are 7 steps to follow to ensure your New Year’s resolutions stick.
Step 1. Identify your three greatest accomplishments
Even if this year was a challenging year for you, odds are if you look close enough there’s something somewhere to be proud of.
Step 2. Analyze what you learned from each accomplishment
Now that you have identified your three greatest accomplishments, go back to each one. This time though identify exactly what you learned or were reminded of by each of them.
Step 3. Identify your biggest disappointments
Practically every company and individual resists analyzing their mistakes. That’s a shame because this is where the best learning comes from.
Step 4. Analyze what you learned from each failure or disappointment
No matter how great everything in life is going – we all make mistakes. The trick here is to really analyze them, what preceded them, what could you have done differently, and how can you prevent them in the future.
Step 5. Identify how you limited yourself last year and how can you stop
Were there certain actions you took or didn’t take that came back to haunt you? In order to make sure you don’t limit yourself again – you need to bring these self-defeating actions to the surface, confront them, and most importantly determine what you must do differently to make sure you don’t make the same mistakes all over again.
Step 6. Pragmatically review the information you have gathered
The goal of this exercise is not simply to know yourself and your business better but to actually use the information to make certain next year far surpasses this year.
What are the big takeaways from answering each question? What do you know about yourself or your business that you didn’t realize or weren’t thinking about?
Obviously, having this list isn’t going to do it all, you still need to take this new knowledge and use it.
Fortunately, that’s what the last question is centered around. And here it is…
Step 7: Use this Information to amaze yourself next year
The purpose here is to build in to your schedule, your interactions, your management style or whatever else you’ve surfaced in the previous questions and build yourself a new better approach.

The final step is to incorporate it into a plan for the next year. Wish you the best luck!

Christmas Eve Holiday Workout and Diet Solutions

Christmas Eve Holiday Workout and Diet Solutions

0
Year after year, losing weight and getting healthy rank the Top 3 New Year’s Resolutions for most people “You can witness this from the crazy crowd in the gym for the first two weeks after the New Year. People all over the world are searching for tips and advice in losing weight, building muscles, eating right, finding workout routines, and achieving six pack abs when the New Year Eve’s ball drops,” says Carey Yang, a certified personal trainer and fitness coach.
Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC — a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.
Health and fitness is the case where haste makes waste, as the old saying goes. Many people start the new year with good momentum, then lose steam by the end of January. By February, most people already quit or visit the gym much less often.
On the eve of Christmas, Yang offers a quick total-body workout and diet solutions. Anyone can walk into holiday party with confidence. Do the following combo exercises as a circuit workout. Do 10 to 12 reps each. Rest for two minutes and repeat for a total of 3 to 5 circuits (sets).
1. Deadlift to Biceps Curl
2. Squat to Shoulder Press
3. Hanging Leg Raise to Abs Curl
4. Bodyweight Dips to Leg curl
About diet, food is your friend, not your foe. Make a good friend with food. It turns out that stress eating, emotional eating, overeating, and mindless eating cause more weight gain. The food area in which I want to improve is vegetables. My goal is to eat at least two servings of dark green or leafy vegetables per day, such as broccoli, spinach, kale, Romaine lettuce, bok choy, etc.
Plan to list my weekly grocery shopping list with at least three dark or leafy vegetables. I will buy enough for the week’s portion. Cook twice a week. Freeze the rest. When the meal time comes, I will simply reheat them.
Another important component in health and fitness is to watch your environment. When you want to lose weight and stay fit and healthy, you need to watch out who you’re associated with. You are the product of five of your closest friends. Obesity is epidemic and contagious. Some people call it “sympathetic weight gain” with your friends. Stay close to your fit and healthy friends, but don’t break up with your overweight friends just yet.

No BS Guide to Thanksgiving Holiday Diet for Biggest Fat Loss

With Thanksgiving just four days away and the holiday season around the corner, it is hard for people to resist all the eating and drinking, and the weight gain that comes with it. If history is the guide, the average Americans who are already struggling with their weight are going to pack on another 10 to 15 pounds by the New Year.

"This is a year-after-year vicious cycle. People gain weight during the holiday season and try to lose weight throughout the year. Most people fail, so they end up with net weight-gain of 5 to 10 pounds a year. Gradually, it’s 10, 20, then 30 pounds, and more," says Carey Yang, a certified personal trainer and fat loss expert based in Morris County, New Jersey.

Yang is the owner and master personal trainer at Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC -- a leading in-home personal training and weight-loss management company serving and helping clients in Morris County, Sussex County, Passaic County, Essex County and Somerset County areas in New Jersey.

"One of the biggest traps for people wanting to lose weight is to use foods as a way of comforting themselves or soothing their stress and anxiety and make them feel good," Yang says. "Holidays, parties, social functions, weather are all triggers to binge eating or emotional eating. If you feel guility after eating, that’s unhealthy eating behavior. You should feel satisfied after eating for physical hungry."

Yang offers a sensible, practical holiday eating guide - what to eat and what not  - to help people navigate the dining table, cocktail party, and snack bar. "You don't have to deprive yourself of holiday feast and holiday spirit. You do have to have the willpower to say "No," says Yang.

DO sit or stand yourself as far away from the appetizer table as possible.

DO eat a little less and ramp up your exercise leading up toward the event. When the event takes place, you’ll look and feel better than you first expected and you will feel less guilty when you enjoy yourself at the event.

DO bring your own dish to the occasion. Nobody has to know that it’s healthy or low calorie. At least you’ll know how many calories it has and you will have something to snack on of your own choice.

DO sit at the table as far from the unhealthy food options as possible. If you have to keep standing up, putting your drink down and reaching across Auntie Annie to grab a piece of bread.

DO send people home with food if you are hosting a party. Leftover foods make people overeat.

DON’T try to convince yourself that you’re going to eat less after the holiday event. It's okay to eat and enjoy the foods at the event.

DON”T mix-drink wine, beer or hard alcohol. Your system will get so messy afterwards. Or at least have something to eat in between different drinks.

DON’T sit in front of the TV. What’s on TV this thanksgiving? An awesome football game. What’s in front of the TV? Most likely a table with unhealthy snacks.

Yang says, one last word, I want to wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday. Drink responsibly and drive safe.
